Unhappy Winter wheel clearance against calipers

Not getting any response on the Sottozero thread so figured maybe I should put the question in a separate thread.
I finally swapped out the 19-inch summer wheels/tires with 18-inch Millenium (8x18 ET52 and 10x18 ET65) wheels/tires last week (haven't been driving the car since November and I'm jonesing). The factory spec for 18-inch wheels is (8x18 ET57 and 10.5x18 ET60). When I was doing the research initially (https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=50mm&sr=0mm), it seemed like the only spacers I needed would be 18mm ones in the rear but I'm really uncomfortable with how close the calipers are to the front wheels.

The wheels spin freely and I can slip a sheet of paper between the wheels and the calipers but boy, that looks awfully close. OTOH, I really don't want to push the wheels out from wheel wells.

Am I being paranoid or should I be putting spacers on the front? If the latter, what do you think, 3mm? 5mm?

My RUF wheels fit like that with my PCCBs - sold them as the PO had chromed them and they were super heavy. That's too close as it really opens up the opportunity for any small thing (tire marble, rock, stick, bolt off the road) to get jammed in there and lock up that front wheel. I also don't know how much thermal expansion that caliper and wheel may see, but that's really close. If go with a large a spacer as you can that doesn't make the wheel poke out past the fender and ruin the look.

On my car an 8.5" et 50 fits perfectly for the look. If your wheel is an 8" et 52, that's 1/4" difference at the outside (and inside) of the wheel and 2 mm due to the offset difference so you could use an 8mm spacer and have your outer wheel lip located where mine is. Make sure whatever spacers you buy have the hubcentric flange on them and buy longer wheel bolts equal to the thickness of the spacer you'll be adding.

3 or 5 mil spacer will work fine

Yeah, that’s too close IMO. Hub centric not required if you can even find them for the thinner spacers as the original hub still extends out far enough to seat the wheel.

Adaptec Speedware will make a hubcentric spacer in any width you want.

Thanks. Got the 5mm from ECS (where I got the rear spacers from) and it's all perfect. Took it for a long drive yesterday on the new wheels. I should have realized this if I'd looked hard at the diagrams from wheel-size.com instead of just reading the text. The text incorrectly said the ET52s would provide MORE space from the calipers than the ET57s while the diagram clearly shows what's going on and it should have been obvious I needed 5mm spacers to equal the offset for the factory standard ET57s.
