I certainly appreciate the philosophy behind the RWB builds that Hula pointed out, it's just a personal preference I have against bolted/riveted-on fender flares. I don't care for it on the RWB cars, nor do I think it looks great on the 993 GT2 shown above, the multi-million dollar Singer DLS, or even the stuck on front flares of the 997.2 GT3 RS. Always comes off as a "short-cut" move. I can almost see the point of the look as an "aesthetics be damned, these things are crudely bolted on just to cover the wider wheels, screw it we're going racing" type of thing but it's still not my cup of tea. It's like the manufactures just compromised and stuck them on rather than re-tooled for a blended in flare.

I think RWBs are cool. Hella road presence.

Not to belabor the point but, for comparisons' sake, here is an equally cartoonish and wide-fendered 993 from Gunther Werks but with blended in flares.

Better, but still ridiculous looking.

100% agree but I do prefer the flared fender integration on the Gunther Werks.

Reminds me of my favorite term on car forums “it’s got tasteful mods”
