997.1 c2s cranks no start

So my dad garaged his 997.1 and left it standing for about a year and would start it every now and then, but he complained it would start intermittently and then it stopped starting altogether (cranks but not starting). I noticed when trying to start his fuel pump wasn't priming, so I replaced the dme relay with no changes, so I replaced the in tank fuel pump for him and voila it started up.
Now it won't start again with the same issue cranks but fuel pump isn't priming. He told me that apparently the crankshaft position sensor is a fairly common issue and it's cheap so I replaced it, but I was skeptical it would work since it wasn't priming, turned the key and nope...
I don't know much about these cars and am thinking it's probably going to be better to take it to a specialist, but would like to know if anyone has experienced anything like this or has any ideas? Could it be a faulty fuel pressure regulator? There's no fault codes shown on my obd2 scanner I should add and it's low mileage <15k miles

Double check that the tach needle is bouncing when the engine is cranking as it rotates. Cars stored for long periods without being driven tend to attract mice that love to chew on wires, as I think Porsche purchases wiring looms from a company that used to house a cheese factory (sarcasm).
Even though you've replaced that crankshaft position sensor, which would have been my first guess, if the wiring is damaged, that won't help.
Was the fuel stabilized before the car was put up and how long has that fuel been in the tank? I've had unstsbilized fuel go bad in as little as 3 months and cause runnabikiry issues.
Also, starting the car occasionally and not driving it where the motor and transmission oils get to full temp for 15-20 minutes does more harm than good to the engine and transmission, only indroducing water from condensation that ever gets evaporated away.
