My PCM started to malfunction on my .2 C4S, it keeps rebooting. Looks like a repair will cost around $1300. I really like the OEM look, but will consider a aftermarket option. My question is what functionality do I lose with a aftermarket system (I do have sport Chrono)? What after market unit looks the cleanest (Must have a **** for volume control)?
My car was sitting for a month, took it for a spin today and it started to trip out.
I saw a PCM 3.0 in the marketplace for $300 the other day, seller didn't know if the microphone had an issue in the car or the unit. but it is extremely good price.
I wouldn't go aftermarket even though I change almost all of my cars to them, having it as oem makes it easier if you decide to go the PCCM route and I think that should be very soon as the 997 turned 15 years.
Before you go the replacement route, tuen off the Bluetooth function in the PCM from the option button and see if that stops the rebooting. Does your PCM have the Sirius radio option (doesn't matter if it's active or you're a subscriber).
Sirius does OTA updates that screw up the PCMs. When they do one, frequent rebooting is the result. Turning off BT in mine kept it from rebooting. The fi, was to take it to the dealer and have it reflaahed with the latest PCM code, then everything worked correctly again and BT could be turned backnon. That was 2 years ago.
I tried to started the car today and the battery is dead, I wonder if its connected to my PCM rebooting.
last time I drove the car was about a month ago, but Im did pull it in and out of the garage last week and it started up fine. Im about to get it jumped.

I dont have Blue Tooth on my PCM. I did the reset with the fuse, problem still exists. I'm assuming its a mother board issue. The touch screen and the bottoms work intermediately.
