Howdy 997'ers, just picked up my 3rd 997...and not going to sell this one lol. I've had 2x 2009's, a Targa4 and a C4S. I traded the C4S for a 991.2 (which was a mistake, but I got to try the newer car I guess)...
I have been casually shopping for a 997 to get back into and with prices on the rise, I was keen to spot a bargain.
Close to my home in Long Beach, I picked up a 6 speed manual Cab, with 53k miles for $40k. Not overly spec'd but on PSS9's it rides and handles great. I had a brief interlude with a 981 Boxster before this, which is essentially a few more resolved chassis, but the 997 has a mechanical characteristic which is missing from the 981/991 chassis cars.
Congrats, and looks to be a real clean example. Curious as to why you said the 991.2 was a mistake. What made you dislike it? I love my 997S, but do admit I think about going newer once in a while.
Beautiful car, and it's nice to hear that you prefer the 997 over the 991. I've never driven a 991 but I like the size and shape of the 997 over the 991. Enjoy the new car!

The 991.2 is an amazing sports car. It just makes everything too easy. Many 997'ers have gone to a 991.1/2 and been very happy. I enjoyed the experience, but ultimately the 997.2 delivered what I'm looking for in a sports car.
The turbo motor in the new Carreras is very NA in how it feels, but you can't beat an actual NA motor for how it sounds and the throttle response. You should rent a 991 on turo or driveshare before you commit and make sure it's what you're looking for. I do very much love the aesthetic of the 991....such a pretty car.
That's a nice ride at a great price, especially considering the PSS9s. I've expanded my search to include (and even prefer) cabs and would have jumped on a local deal like that. Enjoy!

Thank you - I had cabs off my list until recently. After driving it, and how I drive my 'fun' cars, the cab doesn't offer any penalties as far as I'm concerned - in fact, with the roof down, it offers more enjoyment on an open road than the Coupe. The Targa model, is probably still my favorite however as it has a unique feel and even with the glass closed it still feels very open.
Traditionally, I feel 911'ers have somewhat shunned the cab model of all generations, but the reality is the 997 generation is just as good as the coupe only I would be less keep to track one (even though they have roll-over protection , and you can in some clubs and events). By all means, find a deal on a cab and enjoy!

Thank you - it's a handsome looking car and I've already received several compliments in the brief time I've owned it.

I hear ya about the targa - I had a 1995 NSX for a while. The top would come off late spring and only go back on when it rained or when the car was left unattended in public. I'd love a 991 targa, but they're outside of my price range and the C8 Vettes are commanding stupid premiums over MSRP. I also agree about the cabs. I completely shunned the cabs when I was looking around for my first Porsche (40 AE 911), but my priorities have changed since then and there's only room for one toy in our garage. My wife loves to be driven around like Miss Daisy in the current toy (2005 Honda S2000) so replacing it with a 911 cab or Boxster would be much less likely to cause any marital strife. I used to be a track rat, but my next Porsche will be a fun car only. I'll build up a Miata when it's time to get back out there.

Appreciate your logic, and marital discretion. As a former S2000 owner, I wish I had it still. No way to keep it for future track duties?
