I traded in a beautiful 2007 997.1 C4 6 mt Arctic Silver Cab w 45.5k miles to CarMax in Buford, Ga. The salesman was Rick Bell. Given it's age they may wholesale the car but it's worth a call. It has no issues and looks new other than the a/c control ***** need to be replaced due to the paint wearing off. A common problem that can be resolved. I would have kept the car but Carmax had a GTS I really wanted.

Here is a nice .1 4S. I wonder how much this will sell for.

I'm a little biased here, but I think that price range gets you a very nice 997.1 2S or 4S with a manual.
I went through this exercise for months early last year when I was shopping for my car with a ~$45k budget. Those who tell you that you can get a clean .2 with similar options and mileage as a .1 C2S are not closely following the market. All the .2's in that price range when I was looking were either bare-bones spec'd base Carrera's, had very high mileage, and/or had a "story". If you're open to a .2 PDK base cab, that might be in the ball park.
I ended up with a nicely spec'd '07 C2S Manual Coupe and couldn't be happier. I've been a little wary of bore scoring, but if you get a good PPI, get the cylinders scoped, then change the oil regularly (like you should do on any 911) and add the low-temp T-stat, you should be in good shape for quite some time.
I'm with @Petza914 on a couple of points here. 1st, having a PASM equipped car allows you to add the DSC Sport controller if you choose. Adding the lowering springs on a base Carrera gives you the look, but not the handling of a DSC equipped car. Plus, I think the lowering spring lower the car a bit too much for the terrible roads we have here in CO. A little suspension travel is a good thing, and the DSC does wonders for both comfort and handling. Then when/if you go to sell the car, you can swap the DSC controller back out for the PASM controller, and sell the DSC for close to what you paid for it. Second, having full leather wasn't one of my requirements when I was looking for my car, but I'm very glad I found a car that had it and it will be a requirement for when/if I upgrade to a newer 911. No offense to anyone without the leather dash, but the dash in my '07 4Runner looks and feels better than the plastic dashes in 911's.
Regardless of where you land, be sure to have a few grand extra for some maintenance items or wear and tear items. Regardless of what anyone tells you, you will not find a car that doesn't need anything. Most people aren't looking to off-load a car that is completely sorted out unless some extenuating circumstances were to arise. These are 10+ year old cars trading for less than half of MSRP in many cases. They'll inevitably need a few things shortly after your purchase.
Happy hunting and keep us posted!

Hi puzz1, I am getting ready to list my car. It is a 2009 s manual. Blk on Blk with sport seats. 59500 miles. Great service history. I just finished the 60k service, fresh Michelin 4s and brakes. If you would like to discuss pm me. Thanks, mike

Great commentary! Thank you.
I may have located a 2007 997.1 C2S with a little over 30k miles for $49k.
I've heard increased risk of bore scoring on the .1 S models vs the base .1. Any thoughts on this risk is appreciated. Would I be better off with a .2 Base for the same $ - realizing that it might likely be a PDK?

If you're buying a 2 pedal car, then has to be Gwm 2 for the PDK and needs sport Chrono and/or Sport Plus. If a MT then it doesn't matter and the dasj looks nicer without the useless timer.
On the .1s the 3.8L does have a higher scoring rate than the 3.6L probably due to the larger bore and thinner cylinder walls. Bore scoring has happened on. 2 cars too, but at a much significantly lower rate.

It's up to 39K with just under 2 hours to go. It sounds a bit...thrashy...in second driving video. I've only driven one 9A1 equipped car, so my sample size is small. I'd want to know more about the repairs and see a DME report before cutting a check.
EDIT - The DME report is included earlier in the comment history and it's clean.

IMHO, for <$50,000, the best choice in recent 911s are 2009 - 2011 3.6L 997.2s. Buy the one you like. They're all awesome.

Personally were I am in this camp is the cheapest lowest mile, most well taken care of, best spect 997.1 you can find. Leave yourself at least $10k to enjoy the car, really enjoy it, which to me means no worries. If it breaks I have the $ to fix it, if I want to mod it, I have the $ to do it.
I understand the .2 preference, but to me you are spending the $ that you could save for any unknown issue for a car that delivers a slightly better piece of mind, but still has the potential to hand you a crazy expensive repair bill.
