Wayne's suggestion is the best. Go get a new perfectly clean bucket from Harbor Freight or Home Depot. Drain all the oil into the bucket, then refill with a quart less. Adjust as necessary.

Overfull in either generation car can damage the AOS and foul the spark plugs.
I was specifically thinking of a .2, since there should be just enough that does remain in the filter and also in the canister. But there is a chance that it starts to drain back into the engine. This would also require a new filter, so not as economical. I guess you could also open the drain plug a bit, but not sure if the crush washer would seal quite as well.

Wayne's/your suggestion though is probably best as mentioned.

Hi Rocco,

The 997.2 has two oil level measuring modes described on p154, but they use the same oil level sensor located in the engine pan.

There is a separate oil pressure sensor located near the oil filter. If that goes off, you’ve a very serious issue. But it’s not an oil level measurement per say (p208), unless the root cause was very sudden low oil level due to a very bad/catastrophic leak.

But under normal circumstances, the pan sensor should catch a low oil level way before you’d loose actual oil pressure for that reason.

Karl.
