Default 997.1 4S - Winter Wheel Choices

I'm looking for some used winter rims/tires for my 2006 997.1 C4S. It rides on 19's in the Summer - can I fit 18's with winter tires that were likely off a C2 or should I stick to 19 inch. options? Anything to be concious of when shopping for a set of Winter rims?

Thanks!
Matt

I run a set of 18s on my 4s as my winter setup. I got them from TireRack in 235/40F 265/40R config on some aftermarket turbotwist looking rims. I wanted something narrower in the rear for snow but I will probably go for a 295/35 rear tire next go around since I don't see much snow and more low temps and dry roads with my use case.

Plenty of snow and ice driving, I'd get 18's with all season tires in 265 rear size or real winter tires. For AWD, I think all season tires are more than ok.
I went with 19's with all seasons and 295 rears with no issue for snow up to a few inches. There are more tire choices with 18's.

If the OP is in an area that gets real snow, all season tires will not do the trick. Four x zero traction, is zero traction. The all-seasons will be OK in dry, clear, cold conditions, but not on snow or ice.

I just posted a set in the classified section if you're anywhere close to PA.

Your entitled to your opinion of course. An AWD car with A/S tires will do well for any decent driver in mild snow and ice based on my experience in my C4S. Your experience is yours. Granted this is only my second AWD vehicle, but I had 30 years experience in FWD and RWD vehicles with A/S tires with 5 vehicle makes in midwest and central east coast states with plenty of ice and snow to deal with. A/S certainly isn't as good as real winter tires, no one is saying that, but be honest, most 911 drivers aren't going out in 10 inches of snow and heavy ice. Most have another car for that. But light snow and a little slush or ice is actually fine with A/S tires and AWD and a driver with basic winter driving skills.

18s with a 235/40F 265/40R config were exactly the ones I was looking at - I was concerned about fitting them on the widebody S with the larger brakes but sounds like it works great on your whip - thanks for the guidance!

I run the stock 19" lobster forks with Pirelli Sottozeros on my C4S in the winter (I have an aftermarket set of 19s with summer tires).

The grip is unbelievable! I never had any problems with them, and would recommend the 19s.

285/35 19in rear 235/40 19in front Pirellis SottoZero II . NEEDED wide 19in wheels to maintain the look. Not like my wife's VolvoXC60 in the snow but allows me to keep driving in the winter.
