Default Oil level - variable guage reading

These read a bit high when refilled, so several times my gauge showed all 3 bars after an oil change but after a day it settled to 2 bars above the low arrow. If that is what happened to you and you burnt a 1qt on 2k miles, which is perfectly normal, then you would get to where you are now.
Hi all! The same is happening to me. The gauge showed all 3 bars after an oil change by the dealer even with the engine warm. But after a day it settled to 1st bar empty bellow the full arrow, reading after 24 hours. Sometimes it gives fulI level. It seems the sensor is not ok or the oil level is on the threshold between full and 1st bar bellow. Only put 500kms on the clock, without high engine reving! The question is? Real comsumption or oil sensor fault?!

After the oil change, did you measure it the next morning with the engine cold and on a level surface? This would give you the correct starting point of the oil level.
To get a reading now, park on a level surface and take the measurement in the morning prior to starting the car.

Yes, I did it. Full read.after oil change a day after. The park surface is flat/leveled. Now, after 500kms sometimes full, sometimes one bar bellow.

If you are getting inconsistent readings it could be a faulty sensor. It’s best to take it to a dealer to test the sensor.

This is what happens when you overfill a Porsche engine with oil...

On my 997.2 I find if I check the oil right after a long drive it will be 1 bar lower. If I sit and idle for a couple of minutes, it will rIse back up to the same level as before. I think it takes the scavenge pumps a couple minutes to bring all the oil back.

It can't confirm if it's different on the GT3 but it looks like a straight forward DIY project.

Question Oil level reading inconsistent after cold oil/garage park for days

After 48h I got this. Sometimes upper bar filled. However after motor runing, oil temp nearly 100ºC I get the same reading.
