Bonnet pull is broken

Bonnet pull is broken
I broke just the tab yesterday.
1. Is there a way to just replace this piece without replacing the entire assembly?
2. The bonnet didn’t open when I pulled on the tab. Any idea why?

This is a common problem. It happens due to over travel when too much force is used pulling up on it.
The switch activates near the hinge. I "fixed" mine with a piece of tie strap and super glue.
That got broken when the car was in for bonnet repainting after a sandstorm incident (see paragraph one).
Since then I've learned to push down at the hinge with my thumb as I lift up at the front with my index finger. This reliably operates the switch.
At some point I may replace the assembly. Right now there is not an immediate need.
But I do feel a bit guilty leaving this as it is!!!
There are previous threads that discuss swapping this assembly out. Loosen the screws on the side of the assembly ... Don't completely remove them. Swap in the new assembly. Tighten.

On mine the plastic shaft that serves as the hinge pivot broke. I drilled out what was remaining of the plastic shaft and inserted a small nail with the same diameter. Been working good as new for over 5 years now.

I purchased a switch on eBay for $50 supposedly was OEM. All is good. Super easy to do. YMMV
