Default How to get INSANE ferrari/gt3 exhaust note? Tubi Style?

Ok sorry for the clickbait title, but now that youre here...

I love the high pitch wail you get with a tubi style exhaust but its really hard to find used examples for the 997.1 (mufflers).

Does anyone know if there's a cheaper way to achieve the ferrari/gt3 like sound?

Most 997.1 exhaust options have a rumble to it...I'm looking for more of a flat plane crank, hollow, wail noise in the upper revs:

alot of it is intake noise over exhaust- If you are looking for the wail you'll want a fabspeed intake, IPD plenum, equal length headers, and xpipe, with tubi mufflers.

That will get you as close to the gt3 wail as you can get without a gt3.

Its hard to get a 9000 rpm note when your limited to 7000 rpm's. GT3's/Ferrari's sound their absolute best at 9000.

A flat plane crank engine makes nice sound for sure, but it is not exotic engineering, after all a Ford Mustang GT350 has a flat plane crank. I think the Yamaha R1 had it 10-15 years ago too. And the coming Corvette ZR1 and ??Z06 are also suppose to have it. Nothing wrong with a Corvette or Mustang per se, but hardly exotic since they are mass market and not incredibly over priced based on performace.

Have you had a flat plane? That is where the Ferrari, exotic sound comes from. You cannot get this sound out of a boxer engine. I spent the price of cars modifying many 911 engines over the years and you cannot get that sound from them.

The only Porsche I have owned that had that sound over the years was my CGT.

This is an excerpt from the below article:

One of the keys to the smooth revs of Ferrari’s engine sounds is the flat-plane design of their motors. The Ferrari 458 Italia, for instance, features a V8 with flat-plane (180-degree) crankshaft that alternates between cylinder banks, giving it smooth, resonant sound, while V8s that use a cross-plane crankshaft (as most American V8 engines do) typically sound crude in comparison.

A corvette with a flat plane crank and carbon ceramics doesn’t make those items any less exotic, it just means they are stepping their game up.

Take a listen and tell me the flat plane crank doesn’t change everything when it comes to sound.

True, but you cannot get that Ferrari like exotic sound without it. Trust me, I have tried and I have spent $50k and more just modifying engines.

have no idea what Chevy or Ford does tobtheir flat plane crank engines and don’t care.

When I had my NSX I went through about 6 exhausts in 10 years trying to replicate Ferrari's exotic sound. Even though it redlined at 8000, could not get that sound.

My 360 with a tubi style exhaust has the best sound I’ve ever heard come out of a car that I’ve owned. I love rolling the window down just to listen to the intake noise mix in with everything else. The radio in that car is terrible but it doesn’t matter as I barely use it

Most inline 4 engines have a flat plane crank. Put 2 inline 4s together in a V setup with a flat plane crank and you can have a higher revving engine which is inherently louder than a cross plane crank and make more power with the higher rpm potential. You're right, you can't get that $60k exotic Ford GT350(or Ferrari) sound without a flat plane crank. And I actually have no idea what Ferrari does to their engines and also really don't care.

Yes, a 360 with tubi sounds great. The 355 sounds sounds awesome.. The 430 and 458 sound great as well, but I had a tubi on my 355 and it just wailed like an F1. Traded my 458 on a Performante and I do miss the sound.

355's and 360's were by far the best. I believe that as Ferrari engines rose in cubic inches over the years they lost some of their sound appeal. Not all of it but more of a deeper exotic sound.
