Bad Fuel?

First time with over 10 years of ownership this happened to me yesterday. So fuel was close to the 1/8th mark, however the fuel light hadn’t come on. Took her to get fuel, and luckily for us in Europe, filled her up with 100 octane fuel.
Now this wasn’t a self service station and while I was inside waiting to pay I noticed the attendant pulling the nozzle slowly out so as to fill her to the brim and maybe even more than he should have, I went back outside and told him to stop.
Started her up fine and drove home and put her back in the garage. 2 hours later I went out. She started up fine but I could feel that something wasn’t right - she wasn’t idling correctly, as I drove off and hit approx 2800-2900 rpm she died - tiptronic 997.1. Started up again with some difficulty but rpms were not steady - initially thought a coil pack. So put her back in the garage and pulled out my PIWIS, no codes, nothing! Ran her in the garage for about 10 mins with no issue - blipped the throttle above 3K rpm and she died again, started again with difficulty - sounded like in the old days when I flooded my engine with too much fuel! Still no codes!
I initially thought coil packs and various other faults, but she starts everything time, no rough running -like a coil pack has failed - nothing!
Should I chalk it up to bad fuel? Being over filled?
Thanks

Sounds like your charcoal canister got gas in it affecting your venting system.

My thought is that with a gas loaded canister it is blocking air from the tank creating a vacuum that reduces the ability of the fuel pump to deliver.
I'd run it in low rpms hoping the canister dries out, or until you get a code to verify the problem.
Good luck and let us know what develops.

If this was my Tahoe, I would immediately know that I had a bad fuel filter. It has happened to me a couple of times. I can’t give you any ideas for the P car.

Update:I followed the advice of Wayne and left her sitting in the garage idling for about 15mins. Started normally and idle was normal, blipped the throttle a few times and everything seemed fine, so did a 10 mile drive and she was back to normal - I’ll update this thread if anything comes up again but it seems that the overfilling caused all the problems.
Thanks for the help!
