Default Lowering Springs vs Coilovers

So I am about to embark on a purchase of a bone stock 2006 997 43k miles. Spending about 5k more than my budget but I couldn’t pass up on the mileage of the car. First item to address is suspension.

I like a low look and the H&R springs seam to be the most common. What I have notice is they seam to have a lower front drop than rear and have a higher rear end. Not a look I prefer. What’s a spring with a good drop that you guys recommend that sits the car more “level” Knowing it’s a 14 year old car I can imagine I’ll be replacing struts soon if not at the same time. With that cost in mind comes in the thoughts of coilovers.

the only Coilover I can afford right now would be Godspeed. Before I get hammered on that thought anybody have experience running that set up?

any overall advice as to what direction I should look into.

thanks in advance!

If you're going to go for c/o's, mistake #1-don't go off what you can afford right now.

Agree. I have some experience with coilover and lowering springs. I had a TechArt springs (I think they are made by Eibach) with Bilstein B8, an low end coilover and now Bilstein PSS9.
I would say Eibach spring with good struts would be a much better route than going with low end coilover. My low end coilover (won't mention brand) was either bouncy/stiff or floaty/unsettled; I can't dial the ride to my liking; either too stiff or bouncing all over the place.
More expensive coilovers like Bilstein PSS, Ohlins or KW would give you much better ride but at much higher cost. I like PSS ride quality better than lowering springs but at much higher cost.

My suggestion is either go with Eibach + good struts or straight to more expensive coilovers.

I’m happy with my BC Racing coilovers. They’re available at a very good price point and do exactly what I need them to do.

I came from H&R springs and they were great no unusual rake.

Currently I am rocking, Feal 441+ with Swift springs and radial bearing upgrade. Overall very happy with the quality of the product and ride, communication and their knowledge of suspension. They have been around for a long time in Subaru community.
Rebuilds are only $100 each if necessary.

Another question.

what spring provides the lowest drop and even drop in terms of front to rear. Seams the lowest and standard appears to be 1.2 drop.

H&R are a bit lower than Eibach, I have Eibachs and am very happy with them and don't see the need to go any lower, they are also an even drop Front to rear..
But typical consensus is that H&R are a bit lower and stiffer, some people have the rake issue but that may be because their top mounts need replacing??

Definitely take your time to make the right decison. on my C4s, I went with H&Rs.

While I appreciate the ride height, I feel that the spring rate does not match the OEM PASM. I will end up disengaging the PASM and running a fun coilover setup. For reference, here are H&Rs on my C4S.

I first went with H&R springs seeing how people were happy with them and I had no complaints as I have them on my BMW as well. The ride comfort was similar to stock. The rake was really noticeable on my car and it kind of bothered me. I also have the aerokit and would constantly scrape my front lip a lot. I decided to switched them out to BC coilovers and couldn't be happier. I was lucky to get them brand new within the price range of the godspeed on ebay. If your going to replace the shocks, might as well go with coilover imo
