Took car out tonight and cel light came on after about 10 mins of running. I just gave a brief hose down as it had been 2 months since last driven. Codes p0301 0302 0303. Which are misfires on cyl 1,2 and 3. Any thoughts?h
I’m thinking a sticky left bank vvt solenoid as it idles fine till I drive it. It runs well from then on until I bring it back down to an idle as the solenoid is stuck in fast timing mode and all misfires are on bank 1
the part is relatively cheap so I think I may get one and try. Looks like a 30 min job
Gas is ethanol free, spark plugs were replaced not long ago. All misfire are on bank 1 so I’m ruling out three coil pack going on one side at the same time. Car runs fine above idle rpms. It will idle fine on some start ups
So today I pulled the Drivers rear wheel off, loosened the exhaust side muffler, removed cylinder 2 coil ( to check condition....looked great), removed old VVT solenoid and replaced with a new one. Took it for a 30 min drive And no issues. Idles smooth now so hoping that problem idle is fixed. It took 1.5 hours to complete the task and was fairly simple.
Most difficult part was removing wiring harness off old VVT, I use a pair of needle nose vise grips to wiggle n pull it off
The codes on a por11 scanner.....1 of the 5 Muffler loosened to remove rear bolt on heat shield, coil removed, VVT right of coil hole. Close up of VVT solenoid beside cylinder 2 coil Old VVT on left , new on right
