Default bump stops - what else?

i am about to purchase a 2006 C4S Cab with 86k miles and the PPI indicated it needed new front bump stops. what else should i replace while the labor is being done to access the bump stops? shocks? control arms? bushings? any advice is appreciated.

I would also tackle the thrust bearing and top mount if you're in there. Would also be a good time to install lowering springs if you're planning to go that route as the labor is the same.

I did a full front end suspension refresh. My thinking was while they are in there may as well do it all.

I changed all the parts in the image except the control modules, well worth it completely changed the drive and it feels like a new P car again - no rattles!!

If it is just the bump stops and unless the seller is going to pay for it, I would wait until you need/want other suspension components. The bump stops rot out on these cars and is not a sign of suspension problems. See how you like how the car drives and looks.

thanks guys. all input appreciated. Ni_Mo, about how much did all those parts run? i may just do the shocks. would anyone have a recommendation of shock brands? i have heard about about lowering, Andino what is the purpose of it? aerodynamics? i imagine it increases bottoming out over curbs and such, no?

Lowering is mostly visual and some handling gains. If you're not interested in it, no need to worry about it at this time. You would increase the chances of bottoming out due less stroke/travel.

drubenstein if you’re going to do the shocks then you may as well do the top mounts and the bushes - which are probably shot. I wouldn’t go Porsche on the shocks and if you are after an OEM type ride then the Bilstein’s have very good reviews B4’s are twin tube OEM replacement and B6 and B8 are monotube replacements and the B6’s/B8’s if you decide to lower her.

Head over to pelican parts and you can price everything up. If I remember I bought a complete kit with everything incl. It wasn’t too expensive and I went with genuine porsche parts.

FWIW, I have the Eibach springs to lower a wee bit -- not yet installed -- and plan to replace my shocks (PASM-equipped car) with B4s as straight replacement for the OEMs/what's there, unless someone here tells me I'm crazy. Have heard from others it's a pretty good combo.

Oh, and I have DSC...just waiting to plug in once I get the rest done, or sooner.

Thx!

Bob
