Default PSA engine compartment fan

So my engine compartment fan failed. Seized and blew both fuses. Needed to replace the fan.
My Indy mechanic said to prevent that in the future after i wash the car to open the rear engine compartment so any water that is sitting on the fan drains away.

Perhaps that helps, but you gonna do that every time it rains too? The cars were designed to sit outside in the elements. I think the age of the fan has more to do with It then the water....

True, but when you wash the car depending on how you rinse , you can direct water directly into the slots which would not be the case with rain.

Oddly enough I just got done replacing both fuses for my fan also. I noticed it wasn't running after a drive in hot weather. My fan was fine, I just had to replace the fuses. My fan fuse was a 10amp and I read here that the most updated service manual calls for a 15 so that's what went in. All good so far.
