Default PCM 3.0 Strange Behavior

Got a pretty strange thing going on with my audio system. JDA, playing music from the iPod, usually loud, and for no reason the system will drop the audio, change to a FM channel I'm not aware of nor ever selected, and I get a message "Press volume control to cancel TP announcement." Similarly, I can be listening to my favorite FM channel and have the same thing happen.

Thoughts?

I don't know about PCM 3.0, but the PCM 3.1 was affected by a change in Sirius XM protocol which triggered similar behavior in my wife's Macan starting three days ago. The fix for hers has been published on many sites, and is also in her PCM manual: It requires a PCM system cold boot (see "reset" in the PCM manual as well as any number of internet posts). It worked for my wife's Macan, but we had to recreate all Bluetooth phone linkages, reconnect to Sirius XM from scratch, reset all the presets, and recopy all music back into the Macan's "jukebox." Basically, it's like starting all over with a brand new PCM blank slate.

My 997.1 PCM 2.1 with a Cayenne Sirius XM receiver was unaffected -- I guess one of the advantages of a 997.1 over a 997.2.

2009 C2S 155K miles

Switch traffic program (TP) to off.... and maybe radio data broadcase system (RDBS) off also.

See the instructions below.

Peace

As Bruce says you have the traffic program on - useless in the US/Canada but part of the RDS system in Europe. In theory as you are driving local radio stations broadcast a code before giving out a traffic bulletin. The radio picks it up and tunes to the station and then reverts back to the previous source when the traffic bulletin is done.

Old tech as you can imagine as these days google maps has all the traffic you want :-)

So I am having the same issue. (I fixed the Sirius problem mentioned in the first response when it originally arose 2+ years ago-and was not having TP message issues then.) Before finding this thread I figured out I was getting TP messages and made sure it was turned off. The problem is the TP setting will change from off and volume 0 to on and volume 1 randomly and on its own. Not clear what triggers or. I really want to avoid a full reset of the PCM - and other ideas what might be causing this and how to fix?
