Default Homelink Programming

I decided to program one of the Homelink buttons in my 997.2 yesteday. (bought the car in late Dec and parked it till now). I followed the Porsche manual very carefully many times. It did not work. Then I went on the Homelink website and used their directions. They were essentially the same as the Porsche manual. So I called Homelink. They walked me through it and every step was the same except for the last. They told me to hold the remote in front of the drivers headlight and press the correct button on the remote. It worked!! The Porsche manual and Homelink manual said to hold the remote more towards the center of the car above the front license plate. WRONG!

Hopefully this will help someone that has shared my frustration in getting this simple thing done.

I have a garage door which requires me to push the button from the unit itself... perhaps I need to park the car outside the garage to get this to work.

I did both of mine from inside the garage (i.e., 997.1 and Macan).

You only have to push the learn button on the overhead opener if it's a rolling code opener. Mine is old and I did not have to do that.

I also had to push something on my opener as well as in the car BUT the reason for my post is I had to do a handover code thingy to get the homelink, and oddly the seat heaters/memory to work in addition to a couple other things. My indie did it and I went home. Once the handover coding thing had been done, it took 15 minutes with the wife and no yelling or crying—crying is usually on my part.
