I almost always top off little amounts like that with distilled water unless you know exactly what coolant is in there.

Just use distilled water. It won't take much - less than a quart. Check the # on the cap. It should end in 04 if I remember right. Some of the older ones leak a little.

Only use distilled water.

Don’t use Pentosin CHF11S, as that is power steering fluid. I recently overhauled my cooling system & refilled with a vacuum bleeder. I used the genuine Porsche coolant & diluted 50/50 with distilled water. I’m sure if you search on here, you’ll find a cheaper equivalent of Porsche red coolant. I would be looking for leaks, which should be easy to spot with a torch. Look for pink crusty deposits. Ideally you need an endoscope to have a good look up there, particularly around water pump. They are not expensive. At least monitor level very closely now. It should not be dropping.

You have the older # on your coolant cap. You can get the updated # for as little as $10. This is the new # 9=13px9610644704.

The coolant is a closed system - it shouldn't be going anywhere. Have it pressure tested to find out where it's losing pressure and causing the coolant loss. It has Porsche OEM pink coolant in it from the looks of the reservoir. You should buy a gallon from your dealer, dilute it down to a 50/50 mix with distilled water, and then you'll have 2 gallons of Porsche coolant on-hand to continue topping up or for when you replace your water pump. If your car is a 997.1 and has about 50,000 miles on the water pump, it's time to replace it and if the coolant expansion tank looks solid and you don't see coolant crust around the reservoir cap, see if there's any around the weep hole of the water pump bearing underneath the car.

I agree with lurchphil. I had the same issue. A new coolant cap fixed it. Easy. Start there.

Yes a coolant cap is $20 and that is a very good investment for your cooling circuit.

Actually would'nt add anything for the moment. Just drive it and see if it moves anymore. For the small amount it needs to top it off I'd only add distilled water but for now I'd drive it a day or so first and see if it moves any. You may have a slight leak but then you may not.
