Default GT3 RS Mk2 intake on a Mk2 Carrera C2

Hello everybody,

I'm thinking about to change my MK1 (OEM) GT3 rear wing with a GT3 RS MK2.
As everyone knows the GT3 RS wing has its induction intakes different to the standard ones (see the pictures).

My questions are:
- does an GT3 RS air intake fit into the MK2 Carrera C2 (has someone done this before?)
- by using the GT3 RS air intake do I have to use the GT3 throttle body?
- do I have to close I side of the air induction? Will it cause some problems of not getting enough air?

Has anyone done a GT3 RS rear wing on your C2/C2S/C4/C4S??

Can you show me your wing how it looks underneath?

Thank you.

Brgds,
Paul

You need the motorsport airbox that you have a picture of there. They are cheap, compared to the rest of the project.

As far as putting the airbox on a Carrera based 997. Yes, I have some pictures I got from a gent who made a GTS-R (based on 997 Carrera GTS) build with all OEM GT3 RS and Cup aero parts. So it is definitely possible to add the motorsport airbox to a Carrera based 997. I believe you need to get the intake ducts as well, however you may be able to just reverse the direction of the ones already on the car.

Sounds good. Can’t wait until tomorrow when everything starts up after Easter holidays here in Austria so I can make all these mods.

is there a chance to see those pictures you have from your friend?

I may need a slim vent as there could be not enough Space to use my existing one?!

PM sent. Not sure about the vents. If you have a local Porsche race shop you can work with they likely will be able to give some more info on what exactly is needed.

I compared the PET for 997.2 Carrera and PET for MK2 GT3/RS and found that the MAF and Throttle Body part numbers matched

https://www.porsche.com/all/media/pd...W_GB_997-2.pdf
https://www.porsche.com/all/media/pd..._997%20GT3.pdf

Throttle Body - 997 605 116 01
MAF - 986 606 125 01

So those parts will stay the same, leaving just the airbox and the pipe (997 110 321 92) to connect the airbox plus filter.

The GT3 RS airbox comes with MAF and is pricey.. 1000-1300. The CUP airbox is the same unit without a sticker and without a MAF. It costs about 300-350. Since we already have a MAF with the same model number, there isn't a big reason to get the GT3 RS box unless you want to pay 1k for a sticker.. both the CUP box and GT3 RS box come with a filter and both sides of the housing as well as the pipe I mentioned earlier.

What brand engine cover is that shown? I see no provision for the small OEM fan. Is the fan really necessary? I have the GT2 RS replica engine cover on my 06 C2 and the intake holes are identical. I had to get the Fabspeed intake.

Hello everybody,

after I have finished the mods on my car I'd like to share some pictures about it.
We finally made the complete change and the outcome is great.

GT3RS wing was bought by a local dealer here in Austria, but its metal holders for the upper wing was not looking and fitted properly.
So we decided to make new ones which are very close to OEM - please see and decide by yourself!
All non OEM holders are straight and not angled on the upper side where its connected to the upper wing!!
If anyone needs some for your cars, please let me know I'm offering them to you.

After the adaptation was done with the wing we changed the air induction box.

ATTENTION:
the air induction box and the throttle body on a Carrera Mk2 doesn't fit without adapting it.
We had to customize it on the side where the MAF sits to fit the position of the throttle body.

The team which had done all this modification had done a very good job and I am very glad I let them do it.
