Default Scratched Pistons from RacingBrake

Hello - I am rebuilding a set of 997.2 S front brake calipers that I bought used, and I am replacing all components, including pistons as part of this process. After paying more than $300 for a rebuild kit from racingbrake.com, I was frustrated to find that three of the four 44 mm pistons that they sent had some scratching. I think I can buff out two of them, but this little booger is pretty deep, and I can feel it with my fingernail. And, based on its location, I think it would be in regular contact with the inner seals, unfortunately. Do you all think this looks like it is workable, or is it a bad idea to try to use this piston? I need the brakes now, so I am thinking I might complete the rebuild with what they sent, and use a replacement piston when I rebuild them next season...but I just don't want to risk brake failure or catastrophic damage to my bore.

I will note that my 36/32 mm pistons that they sent were in perfect shape, but these 44/32 mm pistons were NOT in good shape and not reflective of the price. Aside from the cash on this one, you can see these light scratches that span nearly the circumference of the piston on two others...

And...I guess it is actually all four with damage, as this one has a scratch at the bottom, but I am guessing this will be below the seal for the most part and won't matter. Could be wrong. Curious to know what you all think.

Frustrating. Hopefully RB does the right thing here. These are literally straight out of their wrapping.

Thanks, all.

Send it back to them. Yes you will lose some time but do it once and do it right. Racing brake should have checked hem before sending it out.

Update: RacingBrake responded quickly to my email and are shipping three replacement pistons. So, it looks like I wont have to use the scratched pistons after all. Thanks, RB!

Yeah shipping is the big unknown. RB is solid and glad they took care of you! Pics of final rebuilt calipers! So refreshing to see owners do their own maintenance!
