Trade out 997.1s for 09 997 Turbo?
Hi All,
Need some opinions, I currently have a 2006 997.1s, I have a lead on a 2009 997 Turbo Cab. General question is value for each and sustained value, one versus the other
OE Specs on the 2006 997s,
- 6 speed manual
- Full Leather
- Short Shift OE
- 18 way hard backs, painted exterior color as well as center console (Colbat Blue)
- Sport Chrono Plus
- Carrera Sport design 19 inch wheels
- PSE, OE
- PCM,etc...
- What I have added or done in general and only put 2k miles on...Pilot 4s, Porsche CF steering wheel, e-brake, shift ****, 997.2 MF/Heated steering wheel, GT3 six pot calipers, 350mm front and rear (all brakes are fresh with 100miles on them), GT3 rear sway bar, DSC sport controller, rear skid plate, Cayenne Sirius XM, all red porsche tail lights and Suncoast LED’s.... Tried to keep the theme all Porsche
- 42,000 miles, Cobalt Blue
What is it worth?
For the 2009 997 Turbo Cab,
- 52k miles
- Full Leather, Turbo Sport Chrono, ventilated seats,
- 6 speed manual
- Silver, black top, black interior
- Oe painted center console
- Then all of the standard Turbo stuff
- Very clean, no scuffs, wheels perfect, no top chaffing, etc...
I can potentially pick this up for 52k
So......what’s the 06 997 worth, is the Turbo a good price and which will hold or increase in value over 4 years

Turbo is the way to go. Solid engines as well. Should run forever and intoxicating power.
Turbo will hold or appreciate over time if I wrecked and keep mileage down.

The spec on your c2s is highly desirable and would be very hard to find. I'm not a convertible guy. So Id stay stick with your C2S. Turbo coupe on a nice spec might be a different story. Potentially a spec this nice on the c2s might be worth more in the long run than a turbo cab.

Yah, would prefer a hardtop but the price and condition seem right, thought 2009 was “the” year for Turbo’s, still metzger engine and end of the line for 997.1 and a manual
Hard decision, my C2s is in fantastic condition, California car it’s whole life. Prior to me buying it, it had 500 miles put on in 5 years......finding some pro’s and cons on that going thru the brakes......no fluid flush and a couple of the bleeders were clogged from external corrosion but nothing crazy...it just wasn’t paid attention to in that time. That said it was in a mild climate and the exterior and interior surfaces are fantastic......runs like a bat out of hell and is totally solid per my Indy. Wasn’t sure about the Cobalt Blue to start with but now have settled on it other than my daughter told me “hey Dad, that’s the same color as the new Kia’s”

+997. Also, in this market, you'd be lucky to get $32K for yours, but it is "worth" a lot more than that. Your car is beautiful. No way I'd swap it for any cab.

997 TT manual Cab FTW
<flame suit on>
I have always been a drop top lover and own a pristine, low mileage ‘08 TT manual Cab
The Mezger motor is amazing and the acceleration of the TT is truly intoxicating. When you add in the wind in the hair open top ability you have an outrageous combination that I haven’t found in another vehicle.
2009 is considered a fantastic vintage and is considered a “Super Car”.
Good luck with your decision.

That's a great price on the Turbo and I'd definitely go for that if you like convertibles.

I guess I'm the only one who's suspicious about the Turbo price. Seems low enough for an extra thorough PPI. Did a quick search and the closest I found was a 2009 Turbo cab, manual with just over 40,000 miles for $70,000.
If the car you're looking at checks out with no stories and you can get it for $52K it seems like a good deal which may be an understatement. And the 2009 was the last year for the turbo with the Mezger engine. Huge bonus on top of the price.

The "Mezger" engines in the 2009 and earlier 997 Turbo produced about 480 horsepower and aside from a few potential coolant leak issues this is a largely faultless engine.

I had a 2006 C2S cab from 2015-19 and put 35k miles on it. I sold it in May with 62k miles and found a 2009 turbo cab 3 weeks later. $52k is a bargain. Buy the turbo.
Whether you get $35k or $40k for your car doesn't matter compared to what you are buying.
2009 has the 997.2 electronics and hvac and they are a big step up from 997.1
