Default Need a Porsche specialist in Dallas area that will do mobile PPI

Howdy. I'm in Houston and trying to get a PPI done on a car in the Dallas area, but the used car dealership isn't willing to take the car anywhere. They've said I can have someone come in and use their lifts to do a PPI. Anyone know of a Porsche specialist willing to do a PPI at this dealership in Plano?

Everyones going to tell you to find a different car. That's rule 1 of a PPI. There's a reason they won't let it leave.

Two years ago I was in a similar quandary with a Dallas car. Being in NJ I needed a Porsche specialist to do the PPI so I could feel comfortable buying the it and flying out to confirm the deal. I called the whole thing off when the dealership said they had no lift making the PPI nearly impossible. I declined the car and found a better one locally from a Porsche dealership. No regrets.

Yeah, I would be cautious of a dealer who would not allow you to take it for a 3rd party PPI. Is the car at Porsche Plano? Just because a Porsche dealership does their "multi-point inspection", I would still recommend having a 3rd party having a look. I'm surprised that they're saying someone could come to their shop and use their lifts, etc., which would seem like a larger liability to them than letting the car go to another shop for a PPI. I would push back if I were you and demand that you or one of their techs drive it to the shop of your choice.

IF you can get it to a Porsche specialty shop, I had a PPI done and had a great experience with Mayo Performance in Dallas last year. I highly recommend them.

Thanks folks. It's at a BMW dealership. Salesman is an arrogant kid. Tells me "We've sold plenty of Porsches. We've done an inspection on this one and it's fine." I was surprised as well that they wouldn't take it anywhere but were ok having someone use their lifts...agree on the liability. And my plan was to have it taken to Mayo. I just can't get it there unfortunately.

That's unfortunate that they're giving you the run around. I would either 1) Call and ask for a manager, if you really like this particular car, and demand that it be taken to Mayo. One of their techs can drive it. They do have insurance on the car, so I would hope a manger wouldn't push back on that request. Or 2) Tell them to pound sand.

A PPI is a very reasonable request. Any reputable dealer should accommodate that. Good luck.

Looks like a nice car. However, given the way the market appears to be moving, if the BMW dealership management persists at being arrogant jerks maybe that would be a signal that it's best to walk away.
