I'm sorry, no offense, but... none taken. As they say A for effort, not so much for execution. Well I knew it was a likely fail but I have options.

the unit was sprayed and painted while it was mounted inside the car?!?!?!

i get its a PITA to remove the buttons and take everything apart, but to paint it inside the vehicle... paint particles will get everywhere - you would have layers of plastic on top of everything (including the roof etc etc)
