Examples of known 997.2 PDK Sensor issues are the PDK temperature errors and Shifting-Rod position errors. Those are Sensor and or signal-conditioning errors, not Software errors.
Software errors are literal bugs, CPU crashes, memory corruption/leaks, etc. with the code itself. An example of how that might manifest itself is the PDK control unit rebooting or getting "bricked" if the stored firmware/data got corrupted somehow (e.g. during a firmware update).
I've never heard of actual PDK software errors being an underlying failure mode. But I'll post that question on PV997's excellent PDK repair thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...nsmission.html

Here are the approximate numbers i have on Fidelity $500 deductible: (i believe after RL discount)
Platinum:
4 yr $12,550
2 yr $ 6,930
Powertrain:
4 yr $ 4,070
2 yr $ 2,760
Gold right in the middle 7600/4500
If i knew 100% that powertrain covered all forms of pdk failure it would be a no brainer, but lacking that its a pass for now.

I think people are incorrectly mixing up Sensor issues as Software issues.

I was recently quoted $2,300 for 2/24,000 power train with $250 deductible and basically the same price for a 2 year and 24,000 mile Platinum warranty with $500 deductible. I ended purchasing 3/36,000 Platinum Fidelity warranty with $500 deductible for $3,400 or $3,700 with sales tax. Car is a 2012 GTS cab with 36,000 miles at time warranty purchased.

Fair enough. I posted more to show what diffferences were between the policies.

The Fidelity Powertrain Warranty is an inclusionary policy, and sensors are not explicitly listed in their policy - hence they are technically not covered.
Sensors not being covered seems to be a common position amongst powertrain warrantees in general: https://www.google.com/search?q=Are+...in+warranty%3F
So whether Fidelity would cover the PDK repair in the event of a sensor failure will depend on how the failure is diagnosed and reported by the dealer/shop to Fidelity.

The following is purely my opinion, I'm not an expert...

These are the options I was quoted on 7/2019 from Michael at Mossy. My car had 30,000 miles on it. 250 Deductable. I took the 5/60 Platinum. It already paid $1000 in the first month.
Platinum --- Gold
6/60 $6013 $3756
5/60 $5498 $3560
4/48 $4658 $3117
3/36 $3447 $2475
The prices go up quite a bit after 35,000 miles.

Quote i saw for car I’m discussing for platinum vs powertrain were >3x more for 4 years, 2.66x for 3yrs, 2.4x for 2 years, and slightly over 2x for 1 year coverage.
Leaning towards self insuring especially since I’m not convinced powertrain coverage will cover all pdk issues without a fight.

Ouch! Was that a discounted price? There are two different vendors commonly mentioned here so before you or anyone buys thy should research. It would be so great if there was one thread with just data points for prices quoted for year/model/mileage. It seems like once Fidelity starts insuring up past 80k the prices skyrocket.

What year is the car?
