Radar
My 4 year old 9500 ix has memory too and stores locations of false alarms. No arrows though but I admit I never understood the value of arrows. If the thing goes off full blare, who will continue to speed while analyzing where the cop is sitting and if it's worth slowing down for? Fans of the Valentine always pointed to the arrows as invaluable and a strong advantage over other brands. Never got a good answer as to why though.
I'm obviously missing something here since even if I had arrows I would choose to slow down for a minute rather than keep on speeding while trying to figure out what the arrows were telling me. Maybe the arrow is pointing to the Gulf Of Mexico if I'm driving along the beach but then you have to wonder why the thing alerted in the first place and if the arrow function is working as it should.

No need at all to have a built in. Been using detectors for decades, all with suction cups on the windshield, that can be easily moved from car to car. I currently have a Valentine 1 - the best one I've ever had. Sadly, I think they are suddenly out of business. And I do not think Waze is a substitute for a radar detector, only a supplement. I rarely use Waze, except to look for delays on the highway where I'm headed.
V1 has saved my butt more that I should mention.
This needs to be understood as as separate issues:
1. Escort/Valentine 1 radar detectors are great at X-K-KA band and will save you *** and are relatively cheap.
2. Laser detection is useless with a detector, when it goes off its you and you get a ticket. This is where a jammer comes into play. You can add to a detector or have a built-in system. Now into big bucks
3. Waze is best for other types of systems, like speed traps, airplane detection and the like.

As someone with a self admitted speeding habit, I love my Uniden R3. Never felt the need to bump to the R7 (don't really care for the arrows). It has saved my butt plenty of times, but always keep in mind, a radar detector is USELESS against laser. My Uniden combined with Waze is quite effective enough for me. Happy driving!
I recommend any of the Uniden models. The R3 is excellent. The R7 is their top line, but also about $450. I've also heard Radenso is good but never owned one. I currently run a R7 in my 911, and a Passport Max II in my Toyota.
V1 has been out of stock due and issue with unexpectedly losing a previous custom parts manufacturer. Since the new one was already in the works presumably Mike made the decision to let the inventory run out and float the business while he worked on the new one while trying to find a new vendor that could manufacture his new parts to his apparently uncompromising spec while waiting on a few patents to be approved. V1 is very much still in business. Price hadn’t been finalized but they have confirmed it’ll be in the $400-500 range and it’ll be out fairly soon. Parts have arrived and they’re in the assembly phase. WRT the lack of spec details, Mike apparently keeps the company super tight-lipped until the product is ready to ship.
I've had a V1 since 2001 and intend to stick with them and get the new one.
Radenso recently announced their new detector named Theia that, if their claims hold true, will be at the top end of detector performance. Pricing is speculated to be around the $1k range but will be out sometime this year.

In my 996, I had k40 front and rear detectors professionally installed along with face facing laser diffusers. In combination with Waze its a 10 out of 10. Ive put on 12k very spirited, non DD, miles in 12 months and it has NEVER let me down. Simultaneous audio and bright blue directional warning lights way, way, way in advance. Ability to mute normal radar emitting signs and other non LEO signals is nice. Single best mod for any 911 IMO. Was my wife’s only requirement before signing off on car purchase. Who am i to argue!
Based on where you live the laser unit might not be needed. Its not a jammer (its a diffuser). it just very briefly prevents the laser from locking on, allowing time to slowdown. In 12 months I’ve only heard 1 laser warning and it was at a toll booth.

My biggest complaint with my v1 is that at night, you can't tell which band it's detecting since all you get is a red light next to the band icon, which you can't see at night. The new one needs a much nicer display like the Escorts have where you can see how many radar sources are being detected, even the frequency number if you want and at night there's no doubt about the band as it shows up in the display. Yes, I know there's a v1 app I can use since I have the BT module too, but my phone is busy running Waze and Pandora which are much more useful than a radar detector app for a display that should be on the detector itself.
I have one to see what all the fuss was about but v1 isn't at the top of my mist for usability or functionality. Might try a Uniden at some point but will likely just stick with escort.

Petza, check out the V1 Connection and V1 Driver apps. They show all that stuff. V1 Driver is 3rd party but highly configurable and has Apple Maps integrated into it and will learn and mark areas where it alerts and analyze it over time to discern if it’s garbage or legit. You strike me as the kinda guy that likes a product that’s highly configurable.

Also, I just placed my preorder for the new model. Still no specs but it is confirmed that it will have Bluetooth. The sales woman said they'll start shipping next week.
