Did you find out if the 991 wheel works on your 997.1? I’m thinking about the same mod.

You need a 991.2 airbag (same airbag as newer macans, cayenne, panamera, cayman). Other than that, its a direct swap. No coding.

Nice upgrade! Did you also get the wheel wrapped, looks very beefy

Its a stock wheel from a 2015 macan, Should be same thickness as 991.2.
Alcantara wrap is a DIY. Available here (no affiliation) https://www.autointeriortechnic.com/...ing-wheel-wrap

That wheel looks good, and from what I read in that thread you linked, you’re absolutely right. Thank you. I can’t wait to get the paddle shifters, i’m sure it will be just as enjoyable as in the 991, but with a slower triptronic.

The only issue that was mentioned had to do with the multifunction thumb dials, which a Porsche dealer could probably fix, at lest from my experience getting a quote on a 991 steering wheel install.

I guess my response was directly to the OP "to install on 997.1 manual car. With no steering wheel controls". There is no coding required for this.

If you want to add functionality for paddles and multifunction it gets more complicated. The thread on 6speedonline is the best reference. A lot of people have done the swap and are knowledgeable on what exactly is required.
