Default Shipping wheels and tires

I'm on the west coast and need to ship a set. Any suggestions on how? I'm sure ups would be a little pricey. Thanks for the help.

Where are you shipping them? ive shipped from Chicago multiple times going west coast and neer paid more than 300 for 4 wheels and tires. Just make sure you package them individually. dont try to package 2 together because it will be too heavy and the price will be way too high.

Planning on middle of the us. Tryingto figureout if priceis worth it.

I could use some moving boxes and pack independent of each other.

What was said here - circle cardboard on both sides of the wheel to protect rim, then shrink wrap the heck out of it. Use strong duck tape in cross-sections to finish it off

Done this many times...

Good Luck

Forgot to say that I've shipped via FedEx and UPS - depending on which was the least expensive

Coast to coast for a set of 19s in two boxes expect $250. in 4 boxes - $300.

With tires and about 50lb each - maybe $325.

Even a pair of tires bundled together from GA to CA was $100 recently, and that's with an account.

Thanks for all the help. I think I will have to shrink wrap and cover the sides. Hard to find a box that fits unless I get creative and tape two boxes together.

You almost have to be ok with shipping wheels, even across country. The local market is most likely to be pretty limited and even shipping to another state, next to you is going to be expensive. I paid $300 from Ohio to California last year for 19" wheels.

I did ship wheels from CA to MI through greyhound before. You have to pack them nicely so they don't get damaged.
It was less than $200 for 4 if I remember right. Much cheaper than UPS/USPS/FedEx but it took 2 weeks.
We dropped them in Greyhound station and I picked them up from station close to my house.

Make sure you take the insurance.

I purchased wheels from one of our great rennlisters and it was shipped UPS. Packaged carefully with 2 wheels in a box. Arrived with one box not the same color box it was shipped in. And the other box was ripped to shreds. Red flag for sure. And the wheels in one box damaged. Insurance covered the cost 2 of the wheels and reimbursed the seller for the shipping. Had the damaged wheels repaired.

Much better to not use boxes but to cut out cardboard circles and tape them real good.
