Where the **** meets the leather boot, twist counter clockwise and it will separate from the boot. You dont need to take the shift pattern cap off at all.
OP - Try sliding the leather inside-out to expose the base of the shifter ball. Look for any hex bolts, collar, etc that lock the thing to the actual shifter bar. If the shifter is in the car, put it in 2nd gear, twist and pull ccw. Watch your face! The top cap may or may not pry off...depends on the manufacturer. You should be able to do some Google fu for this.
This shift **** is off a 2007 gt3 and I can’t get it off any secrets or advise. The silver cap will not give.
Just a heads up for anyone interested -- unlike the standard ***** where you can pop the top cap off, on the OEM carbon ***** it is epoxied on there. Don't try to pry it off!!!

I used to have that ****. I think a PO might have glued the cap on as it was probably rotating and getting off center. I think my cap was removable. Stinks they did that and you messed up the cap trying to pry it loose with metal screwdrivers.
Get yourself a set of plastic trim removal tools for future interior projects. Old hotel room keys also make good ones and to insert as guides when you need a part to slide out next to another part where the fit between them I tight. I keep about 10 old hotel cards in my toolbox for that purpose.
