new Porsche 997.1 owner
I wanted to introduce myself and say Hello, I'm now proudly an owner of a used 2005 997.1 C2!
This car was in California when I purchased it from BaT sight unseen. After about a month it finally made its way to my garage in Michigan.
It's a high mileage example and one that had a engine rebuild due to probably an IMS failure at 104k miles. I was chasing after a Gen1 Cayman and would occasionally look for a base 997 to fit my budget.
This attracted me as a good entry level Porsche, one that I can drive around without much worry and get used to the sport car experience.
Anyway, there's a bit of a laundry list of items that I need to tackle in terms of looks and function but mechanically it seems sound. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up a bit here to really give it a spin.
See you guys around!

Thanks everyone, I smile every time I walk past it in the garage, waiting for slightly warmer weather this weekend.
I know what you mean, my daily driver (16 CTS) is also black! Hard to keep clean and I would've actually would've preferred a cobalt blue 911 but at least this has the beige interior to break up the color scheme.
The rebuild has handled by TLG Auto in LA they outsourced it to an engine re builder that they typically work with.
Here's what the comment was during the auction:
The shop that I outsourced the job to replaced whatever needed to be replaced – bearings, valves, chains, etc. The cylinder liners did not need to be replaced. The IMS bearing was replaced with a non-sealed IMS bearing – it can now be considered a “full-flow“ bearing (not to be confused with a plain bearing) as it is submerged in oil and can pass that oil through the bearing into the IMS tube. The shop that built the motor for us has been rebuilding M96/M97 motors since the early 2000s and they have done well over 100, and it has supplied engines to Porsche dealers and I dependent shops throughout the United States. The shop chooses to remain unnamed because they don’t want to deal with end users or get pulled into debates on the Internet forums about M96 and M97 engines. I chose them for the job based on track record, time, and price.

Congrats, lots of stickies to show you where to start, what to check for and tons of knowledgeable people to provide tricks and advice.
Good that you have the ims in check. Now enjoy and drive safe.
Cheers🍻

Are you in South East MI? Any good indy car shops that you can recommend around Detroit?
I paid around $1300 from LA to Southeast Michigan in an enclosed trailer, a lot of times it depends on fuel costs so it might vary for you.
I tried uship initially but went with Shipacardirect which quoted me and assigned a carrier called Safeway Auto.
You should consider an enclosed trailer for your car the last time I shipped a car from CA to MI in an open trailer the car was filthy.
