I hate draining oil that looks like new.
Just did it again today. 8 quarts of DT-40 down the drain after 1k miles of driving this summer. Feels so wrong. Maybe I should strain it and run it in one of the old Audis?
Or perhaps a better solution is to run it more in the summer. ;-/

I hate to say it, but your bigger issue is you only put 1000 miles on in a season. Ha ha. Drive baby drive. I put 360 miles on mine since 7:30 this morning.

Why change it after only 1000 miles? What are you worried about?

I reuse in my yard equipment (mower, snowblower), plus keep some on hand in an old 1L bottle if the car needs a top-off (it never does but if it did the dilution ration to what is already in the car is so big you're not affecting much)
Mind you mine does not look like new, you really need to drive more!

LOL - You know someone would snap it right up - lightly used!
This is the only car that gets this treatment. Truth be told, the main reason is records: if/when I ever sell the car, I want to be able to document that the oil was changed annually, as per the Porsche gurus; no storing the car for the winter with "dirty" oil.
And yes, you all are spot on: the car needs to be driven more. Driving is easy; it's unmolested parking that is the issue. Maybe next year...

Do I understand that you drive your Porsche 1K miles per year? Really?!?!
Look, we all enjoy things in our own ways, but really..... how are you to know what these cars are about or how they handle or what makes it good when you don't drive them? I guess pride of ownership?.... I guess.
You will get condensation inside your engine, that will lead to acidic oil. That is why Porsche recommend changing oil at least once a year regardless of miles. It would be cool if you were to check and publish the PH of that oil and how/where the environment of where you store your car.
Two dealer websites with maintenance schedules:

https://www.porschefremont.com/servi...ce-guide-menu/
Anyone have the latest Porsche PDF publication on maintenance intervals? The last one I have is from 07/2010 (fine for me but good to have the latest for all). I checked Porsche USA and nothing there.
Peace

I do drive the car pretty regularly, but strictly for fun. I have a bunch of other cars looking for my attention as well, so fun time tends to get split up a bit.

I work for a conservative corporation. I've driven cool cars to work a few times, but when I do I'm usually subject to cracks about how I'm being paid too much...and if co-workers are saying, management is probably thinking it.

This is something I'd like to see more data on. I change my oil at recommended intervals - 5K. I used to change it annually regardless, but I don't always follow that rule anymore. I drive my 911 a fair amount, so I am not sure that a few month put-away will turn the oil acidic. I would like to know more though. On my 928, as a car I do not put a lot of miles on any more, I do change annually regardless of mileage. Historically, it was always before I put it away for the winter. I read (here on rennlist by folks I trust) that changing in the spring after storage may be better. Looking forward to more discussion on this.

Range Rover: solid family vehicle.
Porsche Cayenne: ski weekend vehicle
911: Impractical waste of money.

I understand where you're coming from - I used to average 1k miles per year when I owned my 993 and I changed my oil annually regardless, same with my Vette.
It's easy for anyone here to say "drive more" but everyone has different schedules and what makes them happy. I love driving my 997 as often as I can but I also appreciate the sense of occasion by not driving it daily.
Enjoy and keep changing your oil regularly!
