I did it! I bought my first Porsche.
I did it. After a year and a half of searching and numerous false starts, I did it, I bought a Porsche. This is my first one and it's a doozy. I started this campaign thinking of buying a cheap 996 and learning all the issues with those, and researching, plus continuously telling myself that if I spend just a few more $$ I can get.... I'm still pinching myself and my boys are psyched. Seeing it in person yesterday I said, "Yep, that's the one I was looking for".
It passed its PPI with flying colors. The PPI garage R and D automotive in Albany, NY did a great job and was very meticulous. The owner Tom spent a good deal of time on the phone with me discussing the car and assured me it was a keeper. Gave it a 9/10 and said it could easily be a 10 with a proper detail. I would recommend them. The dealer, New Country Porsche in Mechanicville, NY were great to deal with. The salesman Ryan and the sales manager, Spencer were great and easily accommodated me as an out of state buyer. They had the right answer to every question I had and even picked me up and dropped me off at the airport. I can be picky and hard to please sometimes and I couldn't be happier with the whole process. They even threw in a set of Porsche espresso cups, which I really appreciated.
So here she is, without further ado.
A 2012 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, Speed Yellow, manual, 16K miles. Its loaded to the gills, checks every box. Adaptive Sport Seats, Full leather, painted interior parts, absolutely stunning, a knockout in person. I would have never picked a yellow car but the stars all aligned on this one and I couldn't be more pleased. If you don't mind, indulge me a bit to show it off.

Oh looks awesome. The 911 sport the flashy colors very well. Did the same exercise of telling myself that with just a little more I could get this or that and moved up to my 997 Targa4 cause I was supervised by my wife I must say that it is my 3rd vehicle which replaced a motorcycle for occasional use.
So congrats on getting the best 997 possible, for my taste. Last year of production and top model for me. Well done !!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say this is a special car. The stars truly aligned for this to happen. I would have never picked a yellow car but this one came up for sale and the color just screams sportscar.
It had everything I was looking for, plus an extra pedal for at no charge. Unfortunately the car is still in New York and won't be shipped home until the middle of December. The dealer got me a quote for shipping from the company they use that was quite a bit less than Intercity or Reliable, though I'm open to suggestions for companies people have had good luck with.
The yellow looks really good, I really like it. When I saw it yesterday for the first time, it was "Oh yeah". Good thing about the car is it already comes with a hardwired Escort Max Ci radar detector. Hopefully I will never need its services but I'm glad its there.
Seized drug car! Just kidding. The interior pics were sent to me from the salesman the night I called about the car. I called and put a deposit on it before the pics or anything. I called them the day it listed, 15 minutes before closing. My gut said I should buy this one and I put down a deposit immediately. I couldn't believe it was still available. Later on did I find out the phone was ringing off the hook the next morning at opening. The sales manager said there were offers well above asking price (I believe him), but that's not how they do business. (credit to them, we've all seen the stories of "mistakes" that happen to deposit holders.)
The pics were sent to me the next day. Poor thing was living outside in the snow.
Thanks, it's really sweet car. It's really a bucket list thing actually. I scrimped and saved for years for this thing. I'm rewarding myself for saving and making intelligent decisions in life. I do though have a bad habit of saying if I spend just a bit more...but I have never regretted my purchases. I research everything to death.
My wife was derelict, actually encouraged it. Who am I to say no to my wife.
Thanks, this is the car we talked about in the "Interweb Deals" a couple of weeks ago. The car is in spectacular condition. Minor, and I mean minor cosmetic things. The PPI guy took lots of pictures of everything and when I saw them I said "Ohhh, ok", well its a used car. When I saw them in person, they looked way worse in the pictures. "Oh, that's it!" Smile!!!
