Default Can you buy the PSE dash kit separately? 997.2

I poked around but couldn't find anything using the search function. If I wanted to add a valved non-OEM exhaust but use the OEM dash button and wiring, is there a vendor that sells just the dash and wiring kit (if there is a wiring kit)? I have a 997.2S MT without PSE.

Looks like they specifically don’t want people to do this based on the fine print here. I was thinking of doing the same. There are threads where people have installed a switch in the ashtray.

Huh, i guess I didn't look hard enough. I was poking around the suncoast site but didn't see that. I'll give them a call and see what they say. Sounds you i might have to sweet talk the dealership to "activate" it.

DucatiRob over the ditch and myself downunder and others have done this but using a latching relay wired to the vacuum solenoid rather than via the ECU as prescribed in the Porsche TSB so that the PSE is either ON or OFF as per the switch setting and not controlled by the ECU on a rev/speed dependent basis.

I originally bought a kit including a remote control fob from Carnewal in Belgium but then implemented a wired solution using the OEM switch panel and the latching relay

You can read all about it here http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=116327

I've reinstated the missing circuit diagram in the last post.

All very doable if you're a bit handy and have a basic grasp of electronics

It could be depending on what other options are fitted (Sports Chrono, PASM etc.) There are numerous variants of the switch panel and you need to be careful you get the correct one. The best option to use the Porsche PET (spare parts catalogue) using the correct option codes applicable to the cars's options..

Carnewal in Belgium do a number of PSE retrofit kits including ones with a remote FOB and wired, which I used but then modified the wiring scheme to use the latched relays described in the 911UK post above.

Awesome, I like that far better. I guess it hadn't dawned on me that it would pass through the ECU but it makes sense that would be why the dealer would have to "activate" it.

That looks like a good option. One thing I haven't seen yet is how to change that panel out. All I've found so far is that it isn't easy.

Here's an example of an ashtray switch:

Interesting. I would have expected it to be straightforward.

Assuming doing it in a .2 would be very similar, if not identical, to doing it in a .1, attached are the factory instructions for retrofitting PSE into a .1 car.

Another option is one offered recently by another RL'er, which was to have a valved system with the standard remote, but program the Homelink to act as the activator...nice solution if you ask me

I also love my ashtray switch. eliminates the control module cut offs for regulations abroad.
