Perfect thank you so much! Confirms my suspicions and I was curious about the agate as well. I thought that would be a nicer match with the space gray interior on my base model vs the silver accents on the s model. I’ll have to see if Classic FX will mail some swatches to CA for me
Wanted to go a little retro and had some Houndstooth seat inserts made.
Based upon your recommendation I drove from Orange County to meet Geraldo in Palm Desert and I have commissioned him to redo the seats in my 997 with the same fabric and red leather trim. I will post pictures when complete, alog woth the painted seat backs

Can they source the same Agate Grey 911R fabric in Palm Desert? Might have to make the drive out myself if they can...
I
911R Agate grey - May appear brownish grey as a swatch but when set against black leather is perfectly muted. Google image 50th anniversary pics as it is the same fabric on similar seats. The fabric does have a feel of ballistic nylon but is soft to touch at the same time, very similar to the Sportex fabric in the 991.2 Carrera T. The actual fabric is mounted on a thin foam backing so is soft to touch but also won’t permit the fabric to stretch.
Do you think the 911R material would allow for any seat ventilation?
Honestly I could not comment, I have no experience with seat ventilation.
Here we have heated seats and that works perfectly.
ClassicFx sell the fabric if you wanted to buy it and use a trimmer close to you.
I spoke with Gary @ ClassicFX and he thinks it would work, However before I spend the $$ I’d love to know for sure.
If you still have some of the sample fabric, can you do me a solid and blow on the front of the fabric and see if you can feel it on the backside of the fabric and give me your opinion? I know it’s a weird request.
I believe the seat sucks in air instead of blows.
It gets to 40 degrees C here in the summer with some humidity. Would love to keep my seat ventilation.
I don’t have the samples any more, but have just tried to configure a new cayenne coupe with the 12k sport light weight option which includes the same fabric seat centres. When I added seat ventilation it removed the fabric seat inserts so I’m guessing it won’t work.
Is the bottom cover three separate pieces (L/R bosters and center), meaning it’s an easy return to stock? Or do the stitches have to be separated and resewed?
I had mine done in the OEM Agate grey fabric as found in the 911R and 50th anniversary as it provides a modern twist on a classic. Also the fabric is very different in feel and think it will wear better over time.
There is also a back / silver fabric which is now available in the panamera and cayenne as part of a £12k pack here in the U.K. however when I saw it for real it looked very silver and shiny.
At the same time I also had the handbrake, pdk shift surround and centre console arm rest covered in leather to match the extended leather package.
hey Whacko, would be curious to get an update one year in with the reupholstering. How has the durability been?
That is in incredibly fair price , very nice plug and play, most upholsters I have ever met work in their own world of vague timelines, vague estimates and vague, long conversations. YMMV.
