Great to hear about the 997 being so many people's favorites. I picked up my 997.1 C2S cab in March and love it. I was thinking about upgrading to a 997.2 turbo cab next year and picking up a SC Targa for an older school one (especially because they're sub $30k if you look). It seems that the consensus is to not go newer than the 997.2.

I can tell you I paid around 55k for a '10 C2S with 55k miles. Car had a minor carfax incident in 2012 ($1100 to fix) due to parking lot incident. However, my car is PTS, full leather, manual, X51 (but aftermarket). That said, not sure that stuff adds too much value...I'd say around 50k would be reasonable.

This comes up frequently, how .1 PSE sounds better than .2. I’ve never heard a .1 but the .2 PSE is pretty weak, even with the center bypass. If that’s what you’re looking for there are plenty out there.

The .1 sounds like an entirely different series compared to the .2. Much more raw. I'm always surprised to hear a .2 even with quality aftermarket very weak sound.

Gretchen, my 2009 C2.
Do you want to sell? ;-)

I paid $72k back in '12 for my 2009 w 6MT, full leather and only 4,800 mi. The sticker was $106,705 and it had sat at a dealer for a long time as they weren't budging on price. I'd been looking for over a year and this one just spoke to me so I paid their asking and no regrets. The car is now 10 yrs old, has 19,800 mi and is still worth $72k to me.

Remember that Spring and Summer are the expensive times to buy these cars. The fall going into winter the prices will drop, but it will always be a competitive market for these cars.

Let us know what you eventually get.

For reference, I saw a 2009 black on black 997.2 PDK C2S with 42k miles listed the other day for $44k. I wasn't looking for a .2 but that price was too good to pass up. I emailed the guy within an hour of the listing going up. He and it checked out, the car just needed a 40k service. He told me to call him the next day after lunch. I called him at 1245 and the car was already sold. Based on what ive seen that car was $10k under market.

Deals do exist but you need to move incredibly fast. Im seeing the same for 997.1s. The inventory is shrinking for low mile examples and anything thats priced right is sold in a few days.

Bought a 997.2 carrera S manual coupe in cream white.
Made another post here on rennlist.
It compliments well my 991.2 and it will scratch my itch for a manual!

congrats. good choice on wheels. they look amazing when clean but hard to keep that way. I would recommend hawk ceramic pads for your sanity.

With as few 6MTs as there are out there I sometimes get tempted to go for the PDK but I just know I wouldn't be happy with it. This is a second car being bought solely for the joy of driving. Pretty much the only feature I truly want is MT. Heat, radio and A/C are optional.
