Default ICarsoft POR II service reset?

Anyone here in the 997 forum use the ICarsoft POR II tool to reset their service light? I just had my dealer do an oil change about a couple months ago when having them replace the TPMS sensors, and there wasn’t a service light on at the time, so I guess they didn’t reset anything. I hear this scan tool can reset oil service lights. Anyone use it, and is it worth getting?

I don't have the PORII. I have the POR V2.0, the newer one. It's worked for my service resets. I've done a couple with it now.

You can use that icarsoft tool to clear your lights, check codes, reset service intervals, etc. It’s useful

Thanks for pointing that out. I was about to order the POR II, but after I saw your post, ordered the V2 instead. Thanks!

Looking at the ICarsoft website, it looks like they’ve released a multi-vehicle/brand unit called the “CR V2.0(1+4)”. Did anyone look at this unit as an alternative to the Porsche-specific unit? I’m thinking that having an OBD tool to read not just my 997.2, but also my 2012 Cayenne S, my wife’s 2018 Audi Q7 and my son’s 2014 Audi Q7 would be pretty handy and certainly cheaper than buying multiple units....

I don’t have an OBD tool now, but as I’m in the market for one are there any obvious drawbacks to this multi car unit versus the POR v2.0 unit?

For generic code reading, a blutooth odb2 reader will get you there for most cars. I needed to be able to reset the service minder and it wasn't clear that the multi make solution would do it. Also its not clear that the por v2 can perform a reset on a 991 or 981.

Nuther question- for you guys that use it, have you had to connect it to the computer to download the latest firmware or do you just plug it in straight to the car to clear the service reminder?

You needn't update the tool to reset service indicator. You will want to do it though to become familiar with updating procedure, which is a bit fiddly.

Thanks, it’s the fiddly part that I’m trying to avoid having to do right now cause with my luck, I’d mess up the programming and the whole thing won’t work! Lol.

Sorry...one more dumb question- currently, the message I see on my dash is, “Service in 26 days”. Do I need to wait till it counts down to 0 days for the Service Now message to come up, or can I use the tool to just reset the service message now? I hate seeing warning messages on my dash. Lol.

You can reset it any time. As an aside, another useful feature of the iCarSoft PORII is the ability to read the life expectancy of the TPMS sensors.

Perfect, thank you! I just had the Tire Sensors replaced this year, so hopefully, it’ll be a while before I need to do those again.

EDIT: Ok, I just got my ICarsoft V2 delivered the other day, so plugged it in without updating firmware, turned ignition key to right, selected Oil Service menu, selected Manual mode, 997, and then reset the service warning. Worked fine and I didn’t even have to enter a date of service. It just cleared the warning message. 👍
