Dealers get stuff wrong.... two dealers near Philadelphia use Delvac as normal fills for manual transmissions even though the manual in my 2009 C2S denotes, specifically, Mobilube PTX. The oils are different and have different GL specs. The dealers were clueless regarding PTX and specification in our manuals.

Peace,
Bruce in Philly

The Porsche dealer that did my last service recommended this.

I have used two local indy shops. Both recommend LiquiMoly. One is a Euro specialist who claims Mobil is cheaply made & basically gives oil to manufacturers for promotion. The other is a former Porsche tech, who builds and maintains race cars. He won't touch Mobil either. A few years ago I read some articles by a former Lubrizol additive specialist who claimed Mobil was not looked upon favorably in the industry. It was the only oil producer he went out of his way to cut down. Gotta wonder, if Mobil's that bad, is it the reason for all the bore scoring?

I also use Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5w40 along with 2 cans of Liqui Moly MoS2.

It's the oil most recommended in Germany for a number of reasons, namely consistent oil stocks, high surface adhesion and other factors.

I have done my fair share of research on this topic. I’m on the understanding for long term benefits on engine running smooth and less maintenance down the road with 997. Motul 8100 X-cess 05-40w is top of the list. This has also been confirmed with my personal Indy auto shop. With age and mileage, the 997 and Motul 05-40 seem to pair up nicely together. 0-40 more for the newer engine generation 911, as in 991s. Maximizing on fuel Economy and so on...

after years of reading and based on the advice of knowledgable people, I, too, have settled on:

Motul 8100 X-cess 05-40w

Driven DT40. Jake Raby has done extensive testing on this oil. Read the threads where he talks about it. Its ridiculous the level of detail they put in to evaluating the oil.

Been using Motul 8100 xcess for years. Would have loved to try the DI40 but sadly not available where I am located.

That is only formulated for 997.1s not the .2. They recommend DI40 for the 997.2 but it seems to be hard to come by

5w40. Motul 8100 X-cess

Car runs cooler and noticeably quieter, burns way less oil. stays cleaner.

I cant wait to try motul in my transmission!

Yes you’re right! I meant DI40 as that’s what I run in my 997.2 but somehow my brain let DT40 run through my fingers.

i order mine straight from the driven website. Super easy.

I used Motul for years and it is fine, but much prefer Liqui Moly now.
