Your top speed with 997?

I actually was pleasantly surprised in my 997.2. When I approached the 150 mph mark it had sucked down considerably more than I thought it would and was very tight with zero float like most cars. You could tell the car was made for these speeds. It was super responsive and it felt like the car was talking to me saying okay let’s go. I on the other hand said we are going fast enough. LOL.

I've only had mine a few weeks, and so far have only been to about 135. Incidentally, that's where my last car (Audi TTQ mk1) topped out; in my 2012 C4S Cab it really feels like I'm just getting started.

Drifting
Pretty shameful but I've had my Turbo for 3 years and I think I've only gotten it to 120mph. I just rarely find myself on smooth desolate straights where I can be confident there aren't any cops.

142 on an empty highway in Wyoming. Felt like I was cruising at 75. I could have easily taken it further but being on an unfamiliar highway it wasn't the right time or place to push higher.

Fast enough to feel floaty (we won't acknowledge what that is).
Fast enough to hit the brakes when I spotted a cow in the ditch a half mile ahead (again, no need to mention speeds).
The Statute of Limitations has expired for my Lotus Turbo so I will admit to having flicked the headlights off on a moon lit night and reaching an indicated 160 mph heading into Laguna Beach at 3 AM as I was finishing up a 500 mile drive from Northern California. At that point the twisties were nearing so I slowed down, flicking the headlights on in the process. These were pop ups and they created an air brake that lifted the front wheels from the ground. Lesson learned. Highly not recommended!!!
But the point of that story is that our 997s are much more stable with a lot more pull than any Lotus I ever drove could ever be 8)
We are a lucky bunch.

Burning Brakes
163 on a state road in Montana. Wide open spaces, 100 miles visibility, zero traffic. I knew I was cooking but hitting the rev-limiter in 5th took me by surprise. Shifted into 6th.

I found it being very upset with even small bumps. Even slight steering movement was transforming it from very stable to shaky, sudden reduction in accelerator was causing movement of the car. All in all impression was like driving 350

2006 997.1 C4S. 175 + mph. Solid as a rock. had a bit more in it but ran out of straight road. Only been that fast once before many years ago in a modified Eclipse AWD GSX. Top speed is not my thing to be honest... just too much risk. Blown tire, debris or faulty rim will end your day quick. I am more than happy with the thrill of blasting through the gears to the top of 4th or 5th.

about 130mph. Once it gets here to Germany it'll end up going the full monty.
