In my experience, you get her a hot hatch grocery go-getter, that you don't mind tooling around in as well, and she then starts asking when you going to get her windows tinted and changing out some of the bits for black accessories (grill and mirror caps) to complete the look...

My car buying conversations with my wife of 45 years goes like this:

Me: I’m thinking of buying another Porsche
Her: Do it, you worked hard your whole life.
Me: OK

unfortunately for millennials and others, they stopped making wives like this in the 1950’s

I had a '88 911 coupe, pristine, great driver, concours first place every time I entered. I now own a '07 C4S. No way that 88 was better than my '07. To me those older cars were fun, but try driving one cross country, in the middle of summer, and find out how much your wife loves it.

Just saying.....

I'm fortunate as my wife has the same view, doesn't care as long as I enjoy it, which is good

The last two Porka's I've bought I'd either ordered it or committed before she was aware of them, I think the last car was paid for and shipping being organised when she became aware of it (as she had to meet the transporter when it was delivered).

Your wife is exactly like mine (we were both born in the 80's) - but she isn't American.

Perhaps instead of saying, “I am buying a Porsche”, you should say we are! Inclusivity is a wonderful tool.

I must be in the minority.

I have a 997 currently, teased and said “should I buy a Lamborghini?” Her response was “you should, you only live once and if it makes you happy...”

My FINAL wife was born in the 80's - but isn't Australian - She's German / Lebanese.

I want her to have everything she wants (and the kids too) and she does me.

Its not about age - but attitude! YMMV

After I bought my wife a 2006 997S for her birthday, she no longer asks about what cars I own or buy.
