What's this tube behind the passenger side headlight?
While I was removing the passenger side headlight from the 997.2, I noticed a tube that's not connected to anything on one end (while the other end extends toward the cabin area).
This tube was just hanging in the area behind the carpet when you get to the headlight release hole (that's behind the rubber plug).
Does anyone know what is this tube for and should it be connected to something?
Thanks for the help!!

I'm just guessing but could if go to the bottom of the headlight to drain condensation/water ?
Maybe it came off when you pulled light. Any fittings on the headlight assembly?
The older Porsches all had a headlight bucket draintube

Could be a vent tube for the headlight assembly. It would be connected to a fitting in a low pressure area and designed to pull a slight vacuum on the interior of the headlight to prevent fog ups.
On my 993 the headlight end of the hose is actually connected to the back side of the electrical connector that plugs into the headlight. Very ingenious. So pulling out the headlight doesn’t disturb the hose.
The other end goes down to a low pressure fitting on the bottom of the bumper cover. Kind of an arrow shaped fitting that develops a little vacuum on the hose. Again, very ingenious.
See if the end near the 997 headlight has a male connector someplace on the back side of the electrical connector.

Stopped by a shop yesterday and they removed a couple interior panels to find that the tube isn't connected to anything on the other side either.
The tube is 24" long overall.
We suspected the previous shop left it in there after doing some work, but can anyone with a 997.2 (mine is a C4S) take a look inside the interior panel of the front trunk to see if you have a tube like this?
Took a couple more pictures to show where we found it.
