Default 997.2 Cabriolet 4S Upgrades ?

Just purchased my first Porsche and looking for input in terms of best upgrades to improve exhaust sound, torque and/or HP ? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated ?

Just add a new x—pipe to exhaust. Leave everything else alone from an intake or exhaust perspective.

I hated the stock sound so I Added fabspeed intake first - nice sound at 5k plus but still wasn’t happy - next added 2” Gundo - sounded like a broken muffler - next added Billyboat Center and BOOM - it exploded, sounds fantastic now - it’s the combination of all that really “tied” it all together - adding just the center will be barely noticeable - PS - I added the DSC module yesterday - definitely add that to the list ASAP

Thank you.

An x-pipe to exhaust...does that require taking off the whole rear bumper ? I see many posts on FAB, but also a lot of controversial comments to the point of a lawsuit ??

What's up with that ?

The Billyboat center muffler delete is going to be 1/2 the price of fabspeed, sharkwerks etc and just as “good” - from my understanding Taking off bumper is not necessary but sometimes easier - the length of the job depends on how well the bolts cooperate - most of the time they are corroded and very hard to get off - PS - another great ECU upgrade is from softronic - also get rid of that 4x4 look and put some lowering springs on - and of course get rid of those ugly yellow side markers 😉

Someone else had the same question and the answer unequivocally was
"Try getting the maintenance up to date, check and replace if necessary
battery, tires. Make sure you have annualized oil changes. Learn to drive
your car correctly...You'll be surprised at how competent the car is in stock
form... Then and only then should you spend/waste money trying to achieve
the quasi impossible.

Agree 1000% - and if you REALLY want the car to perform better - take some driving classes.

Yea, I agree with a couple of other posts here. I did Billy Boat center bipass and Fister exhaust. I spent about $1500 overall including installation by my indy.
Very happy with the sound. I even get the gurgle and pops when I use manual mode on the pdk in 2nd and 3rd gear.

I opted for Sharkwerks center muffler delete for improved sound and a DSC Sport PASM controller for an improved ride but HP/TQ increases are hard to come by. The 9A1 is already putting out 100hp/liter. Meaningful increases require internal changes. Porsche's Power Kit runs around $14k not including installation and it only adds 20hp. The Fabspeed Competition Intake will add some induction sound but, despite their claims, I don't think you will see any performance gains. Sharkwerks doesn't even offer an intake kit on the 997.2. Their Tuning Guide recommends keeping the stock intake. The only other exhaust sound improvement, if you don't already have the Porsche Sports Exhaust, is a Gundo Hack (or Fister if you want one off the shelf).

And how about a pic of your sweet new ride!

Thanks for the lead on Fister, looks great Looking to do the Sharkwerks center bypass with it and adding DSC also to my 997.2 C4S.

I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but look into the SmartTop module for your convertible. It is well worth the money.

I also have the Fister mod side mufflers. The sound is better, but not as much as I had expected/hoped. Going to install a center muffler x pipe next and hopefully that will get me where I want to be.

Looks clean. Really dig the Turbo II wheels.
