Default Professing my love for Hawk Ceramics

As some of your know I changed my pads a couple weeks ago. I went with Hawk Ceramics over the OEM Textars. Wow, wow, wow...what a difference.

They have become one of my top mods so far. So far no material difference in feel or performance but they cut down my brake dust by 90% or more. I had read reviews saying they cut down maybe 60% so I managed my expectations. But my results have been spectacular.

I have an Arctic Silver car with silver Sport Design wheels. When the wheels are clean it looks classic. When they are dirty it looks flaccid. I would get two drives at most before my front wheels were filthy. And cleaning 60 wheel spokes (15x4) every week was my least favorite thing about the car. I tried to con my boys into cleaning them but that lasted 2 weeks before they got wise.

Right now I'm marveling after a week of daily driving they still look immaculate. These make my top 4 list of "must-haves" for any 997.1 owner:

1. Eibach springs & spacers
2. Fister exhaust
3. LaPower bluetooth
4. Hawk Ceramics

I concur completely. I have the same wheels: 20 minutes to wash my car, 20 minutes to clean EACH wheel. This was my primary driver for buying Hawk pads. Now my wheels last at least as long as the car between washes -- big, big difference. I have had mine now for 3-4 years. I may not be the most sensitive about brake performance, but frankly, I cannot tell the difference between the Hawks and the OEM pads.

I need to get these. I got posi quiet semi metallics that were reviewed as being low dust but they are just as bad as stock. Where did you get yours from?

Yea I got mine from Amazon. I went to their site to get the model numbers and then found them on Amazon. They weren't prime but arrived in a few days.

For reference you can lookup the part numbers for your car here:
https://www.hawkperformance.com/street

And I purchased from here:
Amazon Amazon
Amazon Amazon

Note: those are for the Carrera 2, not 2S ^

Once you know the part number, also check autoanything.com as they ways have a 15-20% off promo code at the top of the screen.

These are the part #s for a 997.1 C2S (yellow boxes on top).

Pete,

I see that the part number for the front pads for your 997.1 CS2 is the same that the Hawk site shows for my 2009 997.2 C2 (not "S"). Do both these cars use the same calipers??

As someone who just got my first Porsche I was sure the brake dust was overstated. Nope. I'm almost disappointed that my car got new front brakes as part of the CPO process because it's hard to justify replacing them. At least my wheels are simple to clean.

I can't tell the difference between Hawks and OEM. Maybe I'll find out when I get my oil changed next month.

No difference from my experience. I have ceramic pads from different manufacturers on my 997 (Hawks), C300, and Macan (Red Stuff?). Have to look up the Mercedes.

The sooner the better. Mine came with new front pads and rotors. I hesitated almost 6 months on the change, but eventually got sick and tired of the dust. It took a while for that to flush out of the drilled rotors. Now about 6 months later, I've noticed a MASSIVE drop in the dust.

I put ceramic pads on my 18 Macan with less than 200 miles on it! Dealer thought I was nuts but they don’t have to clean it.
