Do you need the entire key or just a replacement blade or case .

Cheapest way is not to lose it.
There is no cheap way. It costs me $1000 when my wife lost her key. Had to replace both keys.

Both actually. Lost one of them, and the other one has been dropped too many times.

I bought a new 997.1 key (black and grey) here on rennlist for $80, had the blade cut by keyinthepost.com from a picture of my other key blade for $25 and the Dealer was nice enough to program it for free.

If you can find a used one on this forum or another (familiar) one then you likely are lucking out. Failing that, buy the blank and codable fob from Suncoast. Some dealers now match Suncoast pricing. Do not buy a cheap non-OEM blank. Most, if not all dealers have learned the hard way that these cheap blanks break their key cutting machine so they won't cut any non-OEM blank.

As i just posted in another thread:

I did something similar -- ordered a new OEM key fob (well, the 997.2 black version) from Beverly Hills Porsche (via the bay) for $162. Then, bought a key blade blank for $10 (non-OEM from Maxspeed Motorsports). Took the blank to a local VW dealer and they charged $5 to cut the key after I provided proof of ownership. Put the cut key blank in the fob and took to a local Indy with PIWIS. They coded the key for $30. So, about $200 total for a a brand new key. I did this for a backup as my car only came with 1 key. For that, I simply bought a replacement 997.2 housing from the bay (generic) for $15 I think and transferred the innards and key blade myself.
Bottom line, if you spend a little time finding the right support you can do it for WAY less than $1K. Man, talk about Porsche tax......

what I did for the '11 911 S:

-used the current blade, got the transmitter for ~$190
-dealer only two key programming- $150 plus tax
*other key needed a 'watch' battery 2032 round $2.

best way to do it IMO

BTW- owner' s ($20) & PCM ($15) manuals are available from dealers

Ebay is where you can find em
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Complete-Oe....c100005.m1851
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Complete-Oe....c100005.m1851

Or cheapest $30 https://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-2-B...IAAOSwsrBcpiGf
Then you need to purchase key blank and have it cut (you can do this for about $30 online if you send in a picture of your key along with the details.
Then of course you will need to have your car programmed to open with the new remote...

Your eBay links say they are programmed to another car. So will not work.

Even if you bought a new key remote for $180 you would still need to have your car programmed for it to work.
