Default Using 997 seat power controls in a simulator rig

I mounted a 997 sport seat to my iRacing simulator rig and I’d like to keep the power controls functioning for forward/back/tilt/lumbar/etc so I can make adjustments while the seat is mounted to my rig.

I included pics of the seat connector. I also included the related wiring diagram, but truthfully I can't make sense of it (I'm more of a software guy )

Anyone know how I can power my seats while they are NOT in the car? More specifically: Can I power the seat by sending power through the yellow clip or would I need direct access to the CPU behind it? Anyone done something like this before?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You only need power and ground to the larger blades in the left section of your connector. White is 12v positive and Brown is ground. Did this for my Office chair, but it's only power recline and manual everything else - I still think the main power supply to any motors still comes from this one primary connection though. I used a 12v home alarm system backup battery as the power supply.

Thank you! This is helpful. Looks a bit simpler than I thought

Do you know if it can be powered directly from a power supply instead of a battery? Do you happen to know what the amp draw requirements are?

Sorry, don't know. If you have a 12v power supply, that will probably work. For amp draw, I'd check the fuse rating for the power seats fuse in the car to know what the maximum would be.

Hello! I am in similar situation as original poster - I am trying to get the seat to work in a sim rig enviroment. Seat comes from 718 Cayman, but I think it is very similar to 991 911 era hardback sport seats and the harness plug is similar to what I can see on yours and mwill photos so I am asking if what I understood is correct.

And I understood that all I need is a 12v battery, going from positive to the top right large blade and from negative to bottom right large blade on the seat connector - as on picture. Please correct me if I am wrong - I was going through entire 991 service manual to try and find something that would guide me, but no success.

PS. I understand it is fine to leave it just connected like that for some time and charge the battery a bit every so often? Thanks!

Yes, the terminal on the right in the upper row is 12v + and to the left of that in the Lowe row is ground.ground. From the looks of your terminals, those other 2 further left are are for seat heaters so you must have heated seats too.

Those connections will only work if these are manual seats (power recline) and yes, the 991 and 997 versions are similar. I'm putting 991 manual seats into another 928 and those also have heat so I've actually bought a heated seat control module too. If the sport seats are full power this won't work as the power comes through the memory module.

Thank you very much for the explanations! Wanted to confirm if you meant the "left" as on my picture I have circled the "right" blade in the lower row, so I am not sure if I have highlighted the correct one or wrong one...?

Yeah, the seat I got is a manual with power recline, awesome! And those do look right at home in the 928, great stuff!

They will. I've done 2 sets of these and the desk chair and doing the 3rd in a couple weeks.

I could only get the powered functions to work on my spare 997 passenger seat (full powered seat), but used the process described in this thread, just power and ground.

The driver's side has more doodads in it with the memory module, couldn't get the controls to work with just power and ground supplied, unfortunately.

That's correct as the memory module doesn't do anything on the passenger seat settings. Should have mentioned that.

Great, looking forward to seeing it all in action.

One last question, which might be a little silly, but what are the wires/plug kind of that you use to connect battery to the blade pins called? I have difficulties finding such products in local offers, though I am sure I have seen it a number of times before...
