The only thing an overrev report is good for on a PDK car is to see how much time it has spent up around the red line, how many hours are on the motor, and what the average speed is, which gives you a way to validate that the DME hasn't been messed with.
Are you saying that a PDK car could have overrevs exceeding 1 & 2 but can't log them or that a PDK car will not allow anything exceeding 1 and 2? That has always been my understanding (but I may well be wrong). For that reason I always thought the most useful aspect of a PDK DME readout is how much time has been spent around redline to determine how much track time the car has had. Best I know, most who track PDK cars stay in auto/sport plus mode so all shifts will be at redline.

PDK can not exceed range 2. After reading the responses about why a DME on a PDK car, I called the shop that does my car and asked them if it would be a good idea to do on my car and they said it is a waste of time. I don't have Sport/sport plus.

Consistent with what I've always heard before.

This^^^. People love to complain about “stealerships” but I just don’t have time for the endless troll/tire-kicker/wannabe/dreamer BS.
