48 hours would have been on the 18th. Whoever constructed the must be in by sentence used the 17th which was a day to early.
As long as They got it in on the 18th before the proper hour, they should be good.

This. Saturday was correct. But Saturday was the 18th, not the 17th. So yes, the constructor used the incorrect number but the correct day of the week.

I don't think a Monday is the best day to end an auction to achieve maximum return. Friday or Saturday is probably the best.
