Please coach me into the right direction. I have a 997.1S w/ 51k miles. No problem with shifting, no hard time getting it into certain gears. I do not track the car. I enjoy adding accessories and mods to the car. When I bought the SSK I thought that I bought the GT3 version however I ended up with the SSK version. I read about the metal bushings and shift cables. Please advise what pros & cons I can except if I decide to buy.
Thanks,
b

there are no real downsides to using metal bushing in your SSK besides the $65 or so bucks you are out sending to Phenix.

The cables are another animal. If you have no other mods on the drivetrain I'm not sure this is where I'd start. look into engine mounts first.
Cup cables or numeric cables are between $500 and $800 plus installation. Not a terribly easy DIY but not impossible. Car needs to be in the air (obviously).
This forum goes back and forth on the NVH of cup or numeric cables being worth it. Engine mounts are slightly less NVH and more easily reversed if you don't like them.
my 2c.

If you already have the Porsche SSK, consider upgrading your shifter components with the Function First Shift Right and shifter cable upgrades. If you don't have the SSK, consider going whole hog with the Numeric shifter. I have the Porsche SSK and went the Function First route. I think the Porsche SSK feels pretty good as is but I wanted to minimize the plastic bushings and cable ends for peace of mind and tighter shifting.
