Resurrecting an old thread, apologies. I'm thinking about a winter shopping list for my 987.2 CS, and have decided to upgrade to new OE cables & brackets (want to keep OE for NVH/ease of shifting). What I would like to do is tighten up the slop (after driving a few 981 cars, the 987 shifter is woeful in comparison).

Can anyone comment on how the FF bits feel with the OE shifter (assuming fresh cables etc)? How has this held up over time, still feels tight after some use? Wondering if the updated FF bits will eventually loosen up over time and use when used in the plastic shifter cage/box.
