Newer Cayenne or older Cayenne? A 957 Turbo S with PDCC will almost hang with a 997 on the street. Check out my build thread. Then you wouldn't mind making the move. - https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-955-957-2003-2010/959688-misha-widebody-cayenne-957-turbo-s-project.html#post15479427

A 957 GTS you can get with a stick for a compromise.

I took a long look at the '81 SC today, with a spirited test drive. I think it drives great, and it's quite enjoyable having to really *think* about your maneuvers ahead of time. The car was super tight and the engine and trans were wonderful (recently rebuilt). I didn't mind the heavy steering or firm brakes. Ultimately, however, I really enjoy my 997 and I don't think this is the right time for me to jump ship into the air cooled world. The 997 does everything well and is totally livable as a daily driver, and the ease with which I can wring out the engine is not something I will ever get tired of especially now that it's fulled sorted. The SC would be a project and I already have one of those (R129 MB SL500). I'm going to sleep on it for a couple days, but I have a feeling I'm going to let this one go.

I did the same as you. Btw, really like your 997 retro look you’ve done. I want to do the same...exterior but also interior. No one has done an interior retro overhaul from what I have researched.

I had an 81 SC. Great car. (It had a turbocharged engine in it so it was 270 vice 172 HP.) But in Houston? The a/c is weak at best. Cars by 1985 had better ducting but still weak compared to a modern car like a 997.

Don't do it. I've driven them and the SC is beautiful to look at but will be too slow in the long run for you. (IMO).
