Default Seat Removal Problem

Water bottle seemed to have jammed my seat off the tracks...motor still runs but seat doesn’t move forward or backward. Anyone run into this?

I'm not sure how the 997 seat assembly functions, but on the 928, the motors drive a cable with a square end that connects to the screw gear assembly. If it binds up and the square end of the cable disengage a little, it will fail to spin the screw drive, but you'll probably need to be able to get the seat out to investigate it properly, which may be tough if you can't move it fore and aft.

Seat removals are pretty easy.... got to disconnect all the electronics so a bit fiddly. Tip: Place heavy towels all over the place and over the sill..... you will scratch up anything the rails touch so be careful.... ask me how I know....

If you do remove, it is a good time to lubricate everything. But do it sparingly as any good grease will attract dust and crap.

Will they go up enough to get to the front bolts?

I recommend you ask a question over at Renntech... Jeff is a real tech.... I am sure they ran into this before.

I know of no way of removing the seat... as I understand it, the business is all from underneath. You may have to craft your own tool..... maybe just use the socket with a lock wrench.... or cut a cheap socket down, shave the sides to grab with a wrench...... GO TO IT! I believe you will need a torx socket (female).

You may be able to make the worm gear grab by applying pressure to the long screw or the motor mechanism... just wear gloves. Or push/pull on the seat as running the gear motors..... or put a pry-bar in there and apply opposite pressure from the water bottle....

What kind of water bottle? Metal or plastic?
Plastic? Puncture that sucker and vacuum/towel up that mess.
And while I'm here. Better under your seat, than under your brake peddle.

NO! There is a big electronic module under the driver’s seat in a well that would attract every drop of that water.
